Establishment of a Sustainable National Medicinal Organic Herb Program With value added processing for St. Lucia with its focus at La Pointe, Mon Repos
Support the establishment of a sustainable National Medicinal Organic Herb Programme by the group Superior Brooms Inc. This will be accomplished through capacity building and certification of members in permaculture; purchase of equipment, support to rehabilitation of a processing facility and the group farm. The project also looks to prepare a documentary on medicinal herbs used for traditional healing and medicines, and for treatment of common illnesses and develop and implement a public awareness campaign aimed at educating the public on the beneficial effects of using organic medicinal herbs and condiments. The project will seek to forge linkages with the appropriate agencies, private sector, GOSL Extension, Export St. Lucia and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to garner support for the products of the entity.
